Jazz really kicked in during the 1920's, an era of speakeasies, flappers, gangsters and prohibition.
Hello, my name is Marcus Magellan and for me it's all about music. I perform what I call New Old-Time, a blend of folk, toe-tapping jug band music, traditional jazz and gypsy swing.

Influenced by the likes of Louis Armstrong, Eddie Kelly, Glenn Miller, Pokey Lafarge, T-Bone Walker, Chet Baker, Ronnie Johnson, Al Jolson, Fats Waller and Django Reinhardt.

“BUBBLE BOP”
Full of energy and bursting with heaps of character, Marcus Magellan's "Bubble Bop" is both a wildly engaging and terrifically fun slice of jug band-inspired writing that has both the performances and personality needed in order to effectively draw in listeners and keep them thoroughly entertained from start to finish. There's something particularly raw and refreshingly unbridled about "Bubble Bop" that not only allows it to perfectly embody the spirit of the genre but helps inject the writing with an electrifying sense of energy that proves to be both exciting and undeniably charming, resulting in a listening experience that audiences won't be forgetting anytime soon.
At the heart of any great Jug Band-styled tune are the performances and I'm glad to say Marcus Magellan and his fellow musical cohorts most definitely deliver. Between the rousing rhythms, animated banjo playing, quirky harmonica/kazoo lines, and charming vocals, "Bubble Bop" is undoubtedly one of those tracks best experienced live due to its fun-lovin' nature and larger-than-life sense of character and as a direct result of this you can most definitely feel a profound sense of passion emanating from each and every musician involved. The arrangement is both stylistically fitting and effective whilst a deep level of authenticity has been achieved through the rustic and very classic sound of the production/recording, ensuring listeners are treated to a wholly authentic Jug band music and I'm sure lovers of the genre will find it to be a highly worthwhile listening experience.
